The 9th annual Pick Your Pet Adoption Drive at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas, saw over 100 pets adopted during the event, with a discounted fee of $13 for all available pets at the shelter. The event continues through the weekend, with adoptions reaching 106 on the first day of the drive. The drive, sponsored by ABC13 viewers, continues with the discounted fee at $13 per pet adoption. The adoption fees can range from $50 for cats and $75 for puppies, depending on the age of the pet. BARC, the City of Houston's municipal animal shelter, cares for more than 22,000 animals each year. All adoptions must be in person, must be 18 years of age or older, must have a valid government issued photo ID, and if the address on your ID doesn't match current address, be prepared to provide alternate proof of address.
