At least two people have been killed and hundreds of homes have been destroyed in Kankakee County and neighboring Indiana. The National Weather Service reported that several intense supercell thunderstorms moved across northern Illinois and northwest Indiana, responsible for at least four tornadoes and "exceptionally large" hail. The hail ranged in size from three to five inches, with a potentially record-setting six-inch hail reported in Kanksakee. In Indiana, an elderly couple were found dead in Lake Village after a tornado struck and destroyed their home. No significant injuries have been reported, but search and rescue operations are ongoing.
