Driver arrested for fatally striking Queens mom, 30, with box truck

William Cruz, 49, of Carteret, NJ, has been charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian causing injury and failure to exercise due care for the fatal crash that killed Jenny Maribel Chacho Sanchez, a Queens mom who had just dropped her daughter off at school. The top charge is a misdemeanor punishable by a $250 fine, up to 30 days in jail or both. The driver continued his route but was stopped by police a block away from the scene. Chacho Sánchez was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The victim's half brother, Christian Chacho, stated that the charges will not bring her sister back.
