Steve Kerr, Doc Rivers join 'university independence' signees

A number of prominent basketball coaches, including NBA champions Steve Kerr and Doc Rivers, have signed a public letter opposing political interference in universities. The letter criticizes cuts to funding for research, censorship, intimidation of university leaders and faculty, and federal officers being sent to college campuses as examples of political interference. The signees also include former coaches Jim Boeheim and Muffet McGraw, former Michigan coach John Beilein, Harvard coach and former Duke All-American Tommy Amaker, and head men's basketball coach James Jones of Yale and the first woman elected as president of the NCAA.
