Downtown KC foot traffic rebounds to 95%

Downtown Kansas City has recovered about 95% of its pre-crippled visitor foot traffic, surpassing many major cities. This is because downtown is no longer dependent on office workers returning. The Downtown Council of Kansas City reported that downtown drew 7.2 million unique visitors in 2025 and 40.1 million trips that year. Meanwhile, San Francisco has recovered to about 70% and Chicago to about 80%, and Denver to about 82%.
