Daley or Michael Madigan, with significant implications for the state's future. The latest primary victory saw Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton win in the race for Dick Durbin's open Senate seat, while Pritzkers-backed candidates move forward to the November election. The billionaire governor has effectively led the state party since taking control from Madigan in 2020. He has also built a modern political machine that recruits candidates, funds campaigns, and maintains a Democratic supermajority in Springfield.
