Comedy duo Tim Heidecker and Gregg Turkington, known for their parodies of Siskel & Ebert, are touring Thalia Hall in Chicago for a sold-out show at the weekend. Despite 16 seasons of "On Cinema at the Cinema," the show, which focuses on the self-proclaimed arbiters of taste of taste, has become a cult classic about codependence. It started in 2011 as a podcast about vacuous gatekeepers, relaunched on AdultSwim and has since anchored its own online platform (the HEI Network) with at least 15,000 dedicated subscribers and has become an absurdist soap opera with spin-off shows, Oscar specials, and a coffee table book. This weekend, the 19-city “Five Bags of Popcorn Tour” begins in Pilsen due to scheduling and fate, not as homage.
