Maria Starn, a graduate from Monte Vista and Harvard, has qualified for the U.S. Olympic trials after finishing the McKirdy MicrOTQ in upstate New York in 2 hours, 35 minutes, and 44 seconds. She placed fourth overall and came in just under the 2:37:00 cutoff time required for women to qualify for trials. Starn will participate in the US Olympic Marathon Trials in February 2028 and if she places among the top 3, she could compete in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. She began her running career at an early age and has completed eight marathons in the last four years while in medical school and a medical residency.
