The Ottawa Police Department will host a sensory-friendly family event at Reddick Library for Autism Acceptance Month on April 1. The event aims to build positive connections between families in the neurodivergent community and local first responders before any emergency contact occurs. The police reached out to LINKED - Autism Safety Project, a nonprofit organization created by Ashley McClain, to help families register with the police department in case of an emergency. All families are welcome and the event is free and open to the public.
