Waymo tech could target Pittsburgh potholes

A new Waymo pilot program could help Pittsburgh spot and fix potholes faster, a process currently relies on residents' reports and inspections. The pilot program uses Waymo's autonomous vehicles to detect pothole locations and will be distributed through the company's free Waze for Cities platform. The data will also be displayed on the Waze app alongside user-reported pothothouses to improve accuracy. The program will initially be launched in five metro regions, with an initial assessment of roughly 500 potholas.
