A survey conducted by Reuters/Ipsos has found that nearly two-thirds of Americans believe that President Trump will send U.S. ground troops to Iran, despite the president stating the opposite. The survey also found that while 65% of U.,S. adults believe that Trump will eventually order troops into a large ground-scale invasion, few support this escalation. Only 7% of respondents supported sending troops into an Iran ground war, compared to 55% who did not. While most Democrats and independent respondents do not support sending any US troops into Iran, 63% of Republicans are open to the prospect of special forces entering the country. The Pentagon is seeking $200 billion in supplemental funding from Congress to support its operations in the Middle East, but Trump insists he is not putting troops anywhere.
