The Las Vegas Aces are expected to lose up to two players from the upcoming WNBA expansion draft. The expansion draft, which will take place between the Portland Fire and Toronto Tempo, will determine how two incoming teams will build their rosters from the existing 13 organizations. Existing teams must submit a list of players they plan to protect from the draft by Sunday. The draft order was determined by a coin flip, with the Fire taking the first pick. The Aces will be able to protect five players, including current active contracts and players the Aces have the rights to in core qualification, restricted free agency or suspended contracts. If one of the expansion teams selects a player eligible for a core designation, the selecting team will have those rights. The selection team will also become the only franchise able to offer them a supermax contract in 2026.
