Cold temperatures and a wintry mix of snow and rain are expected to give way for a spring-like warmup ahead of the weekend, with high temperatures expected to reach the 70s and potentially reach 80 degrees across the Washington, D.C. region. A burst of snow is expected Monday afternoon, mainly from just south of Baltimore to the Washington DC metro. A winter weather advisory is in effect for portions of Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William, Manassas and Manassassas Park. The Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang predicts temperatures in the mid-30s during the day, but drivers should watch for slushy roads if there are any heavier bursts of snow. The National Weather Service predicts a significant warmup Wednesday into the weekend but with showers at times.
