A woman who sued Carnival Corp. for serving too much alcohol, Diana Sanders, has been awarded $300,000 by a jury in Miami after the company was found liable for injuries she sustained while intoxicated. The six-person federal jury found the company liable for the plaintiff's injuries after learning that she was served at least 14 shots of tequila over an eight-and-a-half hour period. The award exceeded the original $250,000 request during the trial. A representative for the cruise company, Carnival Corporation, disagrees with the verdict and plans to appeal it. The jury found that 60 percent of blame for the incident lies with Carnival Cruise and 40 percent with Sanders.
