The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) has revealed that global recorded music revenues grew by 6.4 percent to $31.7 billion in 2025, marking the 11th consecutive year of growth in the sector. Paid streaming was responsible for the majority of this revenue, generating 52.4% of the total. Total streaming revenues, including both paid and advertising, accounted for 69.6% of global recorded revenue. Latin America saw the most growth, with a 17.1% increase, and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Sub-Saharan Africa saw 15.2% growth. Despite a contraction in physical, streaming, downloads, performance rights and synchronization revenues, physical sales grew at a faster rate than any other format. The IFPI highlighted the impact of artificial intelligence on the industry, focusing on the practice of ingesting data without proper approval from the creators.
