Kentucky basketball survived a close encounter with Santa Clara in the NCAA Tournament first-round, winning 89-84. Otega Oweh, who scored 28 points in the final 20 minutes and overtime, was instrumental in Kentucky's victory. Despite not being a regular starter, Ooweh also had eight rebounds and seven assists. Meanwhile, big men from the bench, Mouhamed Dioubate and Brandon Garrison, played well for the team. The win will allow Kentucky to scout their second-round opponent, the winner of Iowa State and Tennessee State.
