Boulder speller headed to Scripps National Spelling Bee

Derek Li, a seventh-grader at Boulder's Summit Middle School, has won the prestigious Boulder Valley School District Spelling Bee. He correctly spelled "caveola" and will represent Colorado in Washington, D.C. along with sixth-grade student Nikhil Ganta. The winner will be known for his knowledge of the meaning of the word.
