The National Theatre in London is set to stage a new adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's short story collection, The Jungle Book. The adaptation will be written by Indian playwright Anupama Chandrasekhar, who previously influenced the National Theatre with her Gandhi play. The story will be relocated from central India to the Sundarbans mangrove swamps of the Ganges Delta, which now straddles India and Bangladesh. The National Theatre's Christmas show will be aimed at families aged seven-plus.
