Rookie edge rusher Gabe Jacas has been assigned to Mike Vrabel's old jersey number, No. 50, by the New England Patriots. Jacas, a second-round pick out of Illinois, is expected to bolster the Patriots' pass-rush after totaling 11 sacks in the Big Ten last season. Vrab, who played for the Patriots eight seasons, praised Jacas' high energy and physicality, and expressed his desire to have him on the team. The number has not been worn by any other player since Vrabbling was traded to Kansas City in 2009.
