The Skagit County Sheriff's Department in Washington state is investigating after 21 dead canines were found washed ashore off Guemes Island, about 80 miles north of Seattle, in recent days. The dogs were discovered on or near an area called Kelly's Point throughout the week, with even more discovered on Thursday. The Skagits County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating the deaths. The canines have been turned over to a forensic veterinarian, where necropsies are being conducted and DNA testing is being conducted. Officials do not know where the canines came from or how they washed ashore. The carcasses all appeared to be roughly the same size, with some measuring about the length of a woman's size 9½ shoe and others slightly larger.
