Reality show personality Savannah Chrisley has criticized Lipscomb Academy over a policy she calls "coercion" which limits parent speech and conduct, as well as bars attorneys from conflict meetings. The private Christian school in Nashville, which is not beholden to the First Amendment, has expanded its powers to manage conduct. Chrisley posted a policy on social media stating that parents must sign a Code of Conduct that restricts public speech and bars legal counsel by March 6 or their children will not return next year. However, Amanda Price, head of school and director of communications, countered that the changes were taken out of context and do not represent a significant change in the relationship between parents and the school. The policy also includes a ban on parents addressing public issues publicly and on posting “disparaging, defamatory or harassing remarks or media” about the school or other parents online.
