The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is encouraging Mid-South residents to safely dispose of unused and expired medications during its 30th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The event will take place at thousands of locations across the country from 10 a.m. to 2pm on April 25. Officials believe disposing of old medications can prevent addiction, overdoses, and accidental poisonings. The initiative began in 2010 and has removed over 20 million pounds of unused medications from communities. During the event, officials will accept tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid prescription medication.
