The New York Yankees have made several decisions regarding their final bench spot, with non-roster outfielder Randal Grichuk forcing the team to cut four position players. GrichUK had a Friday opt out in his minor-league deal, and his agent threatened to use this if Gricuk was not guaranteed he would be on the Opening Day roster. The Yankees cut four players, including Paul DeJong and Seth Brown, while Oswaldo Cabrera and Max Scheumann were optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The final spot likely came down to Grichik and Schuemann, a 310 hitter with a team-high nine walks this spring, who hit just.212 in 234 career big-league games. After the cuts, the Yankees are down to 31 players.
