The Utah Legislature has passed Senate Bill 153, which modified the privacy classification of voter records. Starting May 25, voter records that are currently classified as "private" or "withheld" will be made public and viewable upon request for a fee. These records include the voter's full legal name, voter identification number, residential address, party affiliation, precinct and district, and voter status. The new law allows for the creation of voter registration records if requested by an individual who is an "at-risk voter" who requests them to be private. The registration records can also be protected if the voter is a victim or threatened victim of domestic or intimate partner violence, a law enforcement officer, a member of the armed forces, or a public figure protected by a court order.
