The Texas Attorney General's Office is investigating four companies, including Freedom Forever LLC, for violations of the Deceptive Trade Practices-Consumer Protection Act. The AG's office has received over 100 complaints and has sent Civil Investigation Demands, or CIDs, which require the companies to disclose their procedures to track changes to electricity bills for consumers using their systems. This comes after legislators passed two consumer protection bills related to the solar industry. The companies have previously stated they aim to be ethical, transparent solar installations and ensure all customers are fully informed.
