A Sumner County kindergartner with autism faced assault charges after violent outbursts at his school last year. The case was dismissed after months of court hearings and an assessment, according to the boy's mother. The boy, who attends H.B. Williams Elementary in White House, was initially charged with assault and aggravated assault in September by a school resource officer after the outburts. The Sumner county District Attorney's Office and juvenile court quickly declined to prosecute the case, meaning the charges were dismissed. However, two parents of the boy’s classmates later filed assault charges against him through a process known as private prosecution. A judge deemed the boy as incompetent to stand trial and dismissed the case.
