Athena abandons Wildflower Center nest after both owlets die

For the first time in Athena's history, she abandoned her nest at the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, Texas, after both her two owlets died. The center and Cornell Labs, which runs the camera that monitors Athena, announced that the second owlet did not survive. The cause of the deaths is unknown. There have been reports of a great horned owl being recovered, but no confirmation has been confirmed.
