Fernando Mendoza, the former Indiana Hoosiers quarterback, has been selected by the Las Vegas Raiders as the number one pick in the 2026 NFL Draft for the first overall pick. The Raiders, who are banking on his accurate passing, sound decision-making and toughness to revive one of the league's most storied franchises, are also hoping Mendeza will succeed them. Mendoaza, who won the Heisman Trophy while leading the Hoosier team to a 16-0 record and a national championship last season, is expected to be mentored by Raiders minority owner, seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, and joins a quarterback room that includes veteran Kirk Cousins and Aidan O'Connell.
