Jack Leiter, the son of 19-year MLB veteran Al Leiter and a dominant starter at Vanderbilt, was drafted second overall in the 2021 MLB Draft. Despite a difficult first professional season at Double-A, Leiter improved his strikeout rate from 25.6% to 31.3%. In 2024, he was pushed to Triple-A and had a 3.51 ERA and 33.3% strikeout rates in 77 innings. His debut in the big league in 2024 was disappointing, but he continued to improve. His mental approach to the game has evolved since his big league debut in 2024. Leiter credits his focus on process rather than results, focusing on improving his execution and improving his pitch performance.
