Bronze Age shield found in Beith peat bog to go on display

The Bronze Age shield found in a field in Beith, North Ayrshire, in about 1779 has been loaned to the National Museum of Scotland (NMS) for the first time as part of an exhibition entitled "Scotland's First Warriors", set to open this summer. The shield's unique design indicates it belonged to a group of high-ranking individuals who buried their shields together.
