The Avride autonomous delivery robots have been officially launched in Philadelphia, with a public demo held this week. The robots already operate in a dozen other cities, including Austin, Dallas, and Jersey City. They deliver food from participating restaurants within a 1-2 mile radius and stay charged for 12 hours. If someone tries to steal the robot, Avride is immediately notified. This move is part of a wider effort by Waymo to expand its self-driving taxis.
