Iranian President Donald Trump claimed that the United States was in talks with Iran to end the war, despite Iran's continued missile attacks on Israel and Gulf Arab states. Despite these claims, Iran denied any talks had been held and claimed that it was manipulating the financial and oil markets. The news of these talks was disputed by Iran, who also denied any negotiations. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Israel will continue to strike Iran and Lebanon even as the U.S. considers a ceasefire. Despite this, oil prices briefly fell below $100 a barrel after Trump's claim of negotiations, but they were quickly rebuffed, with Brent crude oil prices returning to $104 a barrel by more than 40% since the start of the war.
