The inaugural Great Gear Swap in Naperville, Illinois, was held from March 16 to 20, with 616 pieces of sports equipment donated. The event was part of a larger effort to keep unwanted sports equipment out of landfills and offer an affordable way to obtain gently-used equipment. Of the donated items, about half of the 309 pieces of equipment were bought at the March 20 sale. Proceeds from the sale benefited the park district’s Fee Assistance Program to help residents in need access to recreation opportunities. The Forest Preserve District of Will County is hosting two wildflower walks this month, one from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Hidden Oaks Nature Center and another from O’Hara Woods Preserve.
