MLB owners could be unified over adding salary cap as lockout questions loom

The majority of MLB owners are reportedly united in support of a payroll cap, which is vehemently opposed by the players union. The biggest-spending Dodgers and Mets are believed to be among the teams that would have to significantly increase their player payroll significantly to reach this limit. The proposed ceiling for the cap is estimated to be around $280 million. However, it is unclear what the exact limit will be.
