Marion County woman honored for 50-year mining career

Marie Jefferson, a coal miner at the Marion County mine in Metz, West Virginia, has been recognized for her 50-year career. She was the first woman and the first black woman to work at the mine. To celebrate her milestone, she was surprised with a party and gifts of appreciation. Despite being 83 years old, Jefferson remains focused on her work and has passed on her advice to future generations of women miners.
