Comptroller: Miri Regev's Transportation Ministry fails to prepare for new emergencies post-Oct. 7

State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman has criticised the Transportation Ministry's preparedness for the aviation crisis following the outbreak of war on October 7, accusing it of failing to adequately prepare for new emergencies. The report also found that the Transportation Department, the Consumer Protection Authority, and the Competition Authority failed to act effectively to moderate airfares. Englmann praised the Civil Aviation Authority and Israel's airlines for maintaining regular air services during the crisis, but also highlighted broad state failures in handling civil aviation during emergencies. He recommended a comprehensive aviation policy based on a strategic, long-term view for both normal times and wartime. He also called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to quickly advance a complementary airport to Ben-Gurion.
