Two men who survived the deadly avalanche near Lake Tahoe, California, which killed nine members of their group of 11 skiers and four guides in February has spoken about their harrowing experience, including the decision to leave nine others behind. The deadliest avalanche in California history occurred on the last day of the trip on Feb. 17, with six skiers, three guides, and six of the dead being part of a friend group of moms and wives. The National Weather Service had issued a heavy snow warning for the region from Feb. 15 to Feb. 18, while the Sierra Avalanche Center issued an advisory of "HIGH avalanche danger" on the eve of the accident. The incident is currently being investigated by officials for possible criminal negligence.
