The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Toronto Raptors 114-102 in a quarterfinal game on May 3. The victory was largely attributed to a strong second half performance from Jarrett Allen, who scored 10 points and 14 rebounds in the third quarter. The team will now face the Detroit Pistons in the Eastern Conference semifinals on May 5. Coach Kenny Atkinson said the series galvanized the team, and that he was glad they survived the ordeal but felt they would be a better team coming out of it. The loss to Toronto would have been a significant blow for the Cavaliers, as owner Dan Gilbert is footing the highest payroll in the NBA to bring another championship to Cleveland.
