Melina Matsoukas is set to direct and produce the film adaptation of Octavia E. Butler's sci-fi novel, “Parable of the Sower” for Warner Bros. The novel, set in early 2020s California as global climate change and economic crises lead to social chaos, was hailed as "notable book of the year" by the New York Times upon its original publication and became a New Times bestseller in 2020, 27 years after its release. In addition to directing, Matsoukass will produce the movie via her company De La Revolucion, alongside Inga Veronique, the banner’s head of film and TV.
