Three U.S. runners who were mistakenly led off the course of the US. half marathon championships will be allowed to compete at the world championships in September, according to World Athletics. The decision was made due to the extraordinary nature of the incident during national qualifying for the event. However, only four of these runners will be entered as "scoring athletes," meaning they will not be able to compete for medals or prize money at the championships in Denmark.
