The Indiana State Police stopped a Freightliner semi near mile marker 41 in Putnam County, near the city of Perth, to perform a Department of Transportation compliance inspection. During the inspection, troopers reported signs of criminal activity, leading to a probable cause search that uncovered approximately 100 pounds of methamphetamine. The driver, 33-year-old man from California, was arrested and charged with dealing methamphetamine and possessing it. The drugs are estimated to have a street value of around $500,000.
