Prairie Public is set to screen the 90-minute documentary "The Librarians" at the new Moorhead Library on April 21. The documentary, which won a major award at the Fargo Film Festival a month earlier, follows the process of libraries being removed from by lawmakers and special interest groups in Florida, New Jersey, Louisiana, and Texas. Most of the books banned have material relating to issues of race, gender identity or nudity. Following the screening, director Tim Dirks will participate in a panel discussion featuring Megan Krueger, director of Moorhead Public Library, and Jason Bedsaul, director for ODIN, the Online Dakota Information Network, a system connecting 60 libraries across North Dakota. The film was made available for screening thanks to a grant from Indie Lens Pop-Up screenings.
