The $416-million renovation of Mexico City International Airport will not be completed before the World Cup begins on June 11, according to airport Director General Juan José Padilla. The construction is being overseen by armed federal agents and includes blocked sidewalks, narrowed corridors, out-of-service staircases, reduced waiting areas, and heavy machinery. The airport's ground transportation area is also under a dispute with traditional taxi operators and ride-hailing apps including Uber. It is unclear whether Uber will be permitted to collect passengers without restrictions.
