Chaz Ebert launches awards for empathy and more

Chicago philanthropist Chaz Ebert is launching the first annual FECK Awards for individuals who promote forgiveness, empathy, compassion, and kindness. The awards will be presented at the Ritz Carlton Hotel on Saturday. Among the honours are Jayera Griffin of Riverdale for her work in the "compassion" category, Michael Airhart of Taste for the Homeless, Hector and Diane Corona of City Kids Camp for free summer camp for "economically disadvantaged" urban kids. The "kindness" award goes to South Elgin resident David Luplow Jr., who saves his earnings to support his local fire district's Toys for Tots.
