Dean Simakis, son of Efty Simakis who started Slices Fabulous Cakes in Cleveland, is continuing his mother's tradition as a bakery owner. The bakery is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a national radio show announcing its opening. Efty, who came to the United States at age 4, began baking at age 13 and incorporated Slicese as sole owner in 1986. In 1992, she moved to the current location at 4190 Pearl Road. The name was added to the original 'Slices' by George and Efty. Despite his many professional appearances, Dean Simakis has had a successful career, including writing for AOL, internet poker, and a screenwriting career.
