Strong winds are expected to peak tonight before gradually subsiding into Thursday morning, with gusts over 30mph expected. Most of western Washington winds will have peaked by midnight, although some areas could still see 40mph wind gusts through 3 a.m. In the mountains, pass rain will turn back to snow due to a cold front, with Stevens Pass more favored under a convergence zone. The atmospheric river responsible for this wet weather will shift south, leading to another charge of Pacific moisture for Thursday afternoon and evening, lasting into Friday. Expect heavy mountain snow to fall in the central and south Cascades by Thursday evening, but it is expected to become more frequent. The weather will gradually become warmer next week, raising avalanche danger and raising potential river flooding.
