The remains of Pvt. Dov Permat, an Israeli soldier killed in 1948, have been discovered nearly 78 years after his death. The discovery of Permat's burial location was discovered after a special investigation led to document analysis, witness interviews, soil analysis, and archaeological surveys. The recovery of Permates is seen as a sign of closure for his family and the IDF. A state military ceremony will be held to place a tombstone with his name at the military cemetery in 2025.
