The news of the engagement has been a topic of discussion during the Chargers' first two days of training camp. Herbert shared the news with teammates and coaches, including head coach Jim Harbaugh and safety Derwin James Jr. The proposal required more preparation than when Herbert made his NFL debut due to an emergency injury in 2020.
