Ex-NFL pro Ryan Clark explains why fighter pay in MMA is unlikely to change any time soon

Ex-NFL player and current ESPN analyst Ryan Clark has stated that fighter pay in MMA is unlikely to change any time soon. Unlike other major sports leagues like the NBA or Major League Baseball, MMA fighters compete under a different model. Unlike every athlete in the NFL, every athlete is represented by the Player’s Association (CBA), which includes the league minimum for salaries (currently $840,000 per season). Clark believes that in each organization, individuals make significant decisions about the financial impact on the fighter. He also noted that the business model of mixed martial arts is different in MMA, creating a physical toll on the athlete and creating the Conor's and Sean O'Malley's.
