The National Transportation Safety Board's preliminary report on a deadly collision on Interstate 35 in 2025 has revealed that Solomun Weldekeal-Araya was not under the influence of substances, experiencing a medical emergency, or using his phone at the time of the collision. The crash, which involved an 18-wheeler colliding with several vehicles, left five people dead and resulted in multiple charges including five counts of manslaughter and 17 counts of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. Despite these findings, the Travis County District Attorney's Office plans to proceed with the charges.
